Black Buttercream

  • 2 Cups Unsalted Butter
  • 7 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Black Coco Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 Tsp. Salt
  • 2 Squirts of Black Gel Food Coloring


  • Beat your Butter on medium speed for about 3 minutes, until light and fluffy.
  • Slowly add in the Powdered Sugar while on low speed.
  • Next add in the Vanilla Extract.
  • Add in Black Coco Powder while on low speed.
  • Add in Salt and Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Lastly add in black gel food coloring
  • Beat on high for about 3-5 Minutes.

*If you want your buttercream to be extra dark, cover with plastic wrap and leave sitting out overnight. The color will deepen overtime.
